Redesigning the Recycling Economy

Is there any appetite, as part of the study of the relocation of local recycling centres, to think in a much bigger way about the Odd Down facility, picking up the idea of greater collaboration between the Council, industry and academia?

I'm thinking about creating not so much a half-hearted "Bath Recycling Skips +" facility but something much more ambitious - along the lines of a new, nationally significant centre for Environmental Materials Science and all that could include.

Why the contribution is important

It is timely because at the same time as this consultation BANES is running a separate consultation seeking ideas/comments specifically about the relocation of recycling centres. We should maximise that opportunity by joining the dots.

There is certainly a need to reduce our waste - by not buying so much in the first place to - reuse - and then recycle.

I understand there is a town in Italy which is leading on fashion /textiles recycling - from creating new fabrics through to the redesign and making of new clothing - could B&NES become a lead for a specifc sector ?
