Make space for greening up the environment by making less space for cars

Why the contribution is important

The will eventually be a move from personal car ownership to shared or public transport. This can and should be designed in sooner rather than later.

Where is this reduction in "space for cars" to be effected? Is this idea focussed on residential areas in the city, where alternative options to travel by car are already available or can be delivered more quickly to encourage the swtich? Or is there an unintentional (or, worse, an intentional) inclusion of "space for cars" in BANES' rural communities within and around which - environmental wishes notwithstanding - inescapable commercial pressures will result in dependence on the car for much longer than would ideally be the case.

It is argued that "The[re] will eventually be a move from personal car ownership to shared or public transport." This is an aspiration rather than a statement of fact. Some who are already committed to the cause will make the move early, and good on them all I say. My prediction is that the rest will move only at the point at which each of them personaly believes the alternative options, whatever they are, rival the private car's reliability, flexibility, accessibility and comfort.
